3D Learning and Personal Relations
How can your relations transform your learning experiences?
Imagine what you could accomplish if your education weren’t confined by the four walls of the classroom. In the 3D Learning model, students break through these barriers by engaging their personal relations—parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, mentors, and acquaintances. These relations offer advice, feedback, support, and inspiration as the student controls learning outcomes.
3D Learning works to replace a flawed system. Bill Gates said of education today: “America’s high schools are obsolete. By obsolete, I don’t mean that our high schools are broken, flawed, and underfunded. . . . By obsolete, I mean that our high schools–even when they’re working exactly as designed–cannot teach our kids what they need to know today. . . . This isn’t an accident or a flaw in the system; it is the system.” 3D Learning allows students to direct their own learning and pull from the experience and expertise of their personal-relations. This way, their education is personalized, self-paced, and more intrinsically motivating. Read the corresponding chapter of the book.
